False Alarm

Our smoke detector has gone off twice tonight. Fortunately, they were false alarms. HeRoos is working with a saw in the garage and we think that is what is causing the problem. BM was dream feeding and slept through the high pitched alarm. When I carried him downstairs to scope out the situation he woke up and calmly looked around, then fell right back asleep. The second time it went off, he was asleep in his crib and didn't flinch. We were worried that maybe he was deaf from the alarm so HeRoos and I started making noises to see if he could hear. Thankfully, he can! He opened his eyes, looked at us like we were crazy and went right back to sleep. He must be having some sweet dreams.

Gee whiz, I can't remember the last time I slept that deep. Ahhhh, the wonder and beauty of youth! Glad the house didn't burn down.

Wouldn't it be amazing to know what baby's dream about, imagine the mysteries of life that might open up.

Nice...I read that babies sometimes won't wake up to noises they were used to in the womb (such as dogs barking)...but a fire alarm? Just consider yourself lucky!

Funny this should happen to you now, we had the same problem this weekend, happens about once a year for us, the alarm goes off every 10 seconds or so until we change the batteries, often happens in the night, our kids NEVER wake up, never even flinch, not even the babies, even though their father and I are hauling ladders in at 3am to change batteries all the while the alarms are ringing in every one of their rooms!

so wierd! Does he share his mama's love of sleep?? I like the picture of the two of you making noises to make sure he isn't deaf. Just the beginning of all the funny things you'll put the little guy through :)

You can tell he is of the male gender although still very young. (You know guys only hear what they want to. You know the conveient hearing thing.) That is frightening when the fire alarm goes off. (Probably needs new batteries.) Love, G.R.
