There is definitely truth to this thing people call "nesting." My parent's neighbor was so nice and gave me her old sewing maching. It looks ancient but it is actually a pretty good machine. I've never been too excited about sewing but within the past couple months, there have been TWO big attempts made in BabyRoos' behalf.
The first project was a baby quilt. My mom (who used to be a great seamstress when her vision was better) and I went to the fabric store. After spending almost an hour picking out material for a quilt, we found a quilt kit. It had cute fabric and instructions so I went with that instead of my original choices. The quilt turned out ok if you don't look too close. It is a couple inches shorter than it's supposed to be. Oops. I must admit that I have a problem cutting straight lines and I had to keep trimming the edges until they were all aligned.
As for the second attempt, let's just say that I'm glad it's done and that the sewing machine is put away. After searching every baby store around and looking online, I decided to make a crib skirt. I wanted a specific print and when I found it online, it was way out of my budget. Luckily, I found the print at the fabric store and it was even on sale!
Out of all things, I still have no idea why I was so obsessed with getting the perfect crib skirt. As you can tell from looking at the picture, it is hardly visible from behind the slats on the crib. All of that hard work is hidden. Maybe BabyRoos will be able to feel the love coming from below his mattress when he sleeps.
For those of you out there who enjoy sewing and produce quality work, my hat is off to you. I love handmade things but unfortunately, I need to keep searching elsewhere for my talents.

Too Cute! Looks like you are keeping very busy!
Super cute quilt! I like the fabric that you chose and your crib is beautiful. I think that it is neat that you made a quilt that comes from mommy. Most kids get wrapped up in quilts from people that they may never meet in their lives (ward members, etc)...know what I mean? It will be cool for him to know that you made it. Looks like you are getting all ready for his arrival...
I am so proud of you. Wow! That room looks great and babyroos sure will know how much momma loves him.
Your crib is so cute! I'm proud of you for taking up sewing... I'm really trying! I want Nadine to teach me but it's kind of intimidating because she's so good... I think the quilt you made looks great and the fabric is so cute! I'm really excited for you guys!!
