Parenting is NOT for Sissies

BM had his two month check up today and the little guy was a trooper! As he got pricked in each leg, he opened his mouth wide and his face turned bright red. It was as if a mute button turned on. Not a sound was heard for about ten seconds. Then his built up cry surfaced and he let us know how bad it hurt. I wanted to cry with him. I still feel like crying.

BM is our Mini Man. His weight and head size are in the five percentile. His height is in the 37 percentile. The doctor said there is no reason to be concerned since he is a good eater and is healthy.

I'm learning that this mommy thing is not for sissies. Not only do I have to be physically strong to lift a stroller, car seat, and diaper bag but I also have to be emotionally strong and not cry when my baby cries. I guess I'll just have to fake it until I make it.

Check out the band-aids on his little legs.

Now that he is asleep, let's hope he doesn't have nightmares about long needles. What do babies dream about?

Poor thing! I feel like crying(or passing out- I think I finally have got over that though) everytime I see a needle. I nearly passed out once after I had a flu shot, I had to lay on the floor at work. I feel BM's pain!

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT. SOMEHOW THE PAIN YOUR LITTLE ONE FEELS IS SO MUCH GREATER THAN YOUR OWN. BUT, THE FIRST IS THE WORST (DR APPT, THAT IS) DON'T WORRY ABOUT HIS SIZE, HE'LL SURPRISE YOU.

So cute and sweet. I know BM will grow up to be a very big boy someday. The band-aids are kind of cute on his mini thighs.Who knew "tough love" would have to start with vaccinations for the mini boy you love. BM is very brave!! I think brother J is right on target with the dream answer. You know food and the boob connection make for happy dreams!!
Love, G.R.

So sad when babies have to get shots! I was a total wreck for the longest time. Fast forward 4.5 years and two kids and I am a pro at holding in the tears!

whew! the first set of immunizations are the hardest. it gets better. and by 12 months, you can hurry and hand them a dum dum sucker and tears are almost non-existant! you rock. keep it up.

BM is the cutest thing ever! Uncle Craiger said, "I know he has a great spirit. I held him and felt it strongly!" I think rather than dreaming BM is getting final pep talks from God and ancestors about how to survive this mucky mortal experience and make it back home safely.

He's adorable!! I wanted to cry when I read about him getting his shots, so I can't imagine how it would feel to hold him through it. :(
Hang in there! I know you are an awesome mom and he is such a lucky guy to have a mom taht loves him so much!
