Homemade Play dough

When I woke up and heard the wind howling and saw how bleak it looked outside our plans changed. I've declared today an official inside day for the Roos'. The kids love play dough so I made a couple batches and thought I'd share a great recipe I found.

Homemade Play dough

1 c. water
1 c. flour
1/4 c. salt
2 tsp. Cream of Tartar
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
food coloring

Put all the ingredients into a pot and stir. Cook over medium heat and stir constantly until it forms a ball. Take it off the heat and put it on wax paper. Wait for it to cool and then knead it until it is soft. I love the texture!

Jennie, this is almost exact to the recipe I use. One tip that I like is add a teaspoon of peppermint or mint or vanilla extract to make it smell oh so good. I hope you are doing well. Looks like the kids are having fun.

Yup, that's my old tried and true play dough recipe. Hard to beat. I used it in kindergarten for two years and still now in 2nd grade when we make our lima bean dentures (the pink dough makes the gums - it's a riot to see) Love you. We're holding our breath for your happy news. Hugs :)

I would still like you to consider having your baby #3 on Thursday the 19th. It would be an awesome birthday present for me. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing this recipe. I'm going to forward it to my grandkids' mom. I remeber the memories of this stuff and it's smell when I was in kindergarten and first grade.
Keep warm!!
