Her fate is in your hands.

By HeRoos,

How can one letter cause so much stress? We don't have the new baby yet, but we have the name narrowed down to one name with two possible spellings. Of course SheRoos and I are at odds on which one we should go with so we are turning to you, our loyal blog readers, to help us settle the question. Leave a comment on which spelling you like better and please put a little reason with some passion behind it for such an important question! The two choices are:

Zoe

or

Zoey

P.S. Oh and the votes for the name I like count double of course :)

I like Zoey with a y, because there would be some moron out there who would think her name was Zo. It's like Monna having people think her name is pronounced Mona.

I think Zoey because it's more common and less people will spell her name wrong - way cute name!

Okay, here comes no help. I like Zoe better - I like the way it looks and it seems more feminine to me, however having had a strange name, it is nice when the spelling makes it perfectly clear what your name is so you aren't called Krisanne, or Kristi ann or Christian, or........And I thought mine was pretty straight forward. Zoey will never be mispronounced.

I have to go with Zoey. (How about Zoie? You know we're quite smitten with the ie's in our family.) Remember the old phonics rule, "When two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking"? Some folks might think her name was just Zo with the long o because the e is silent. Sorry to say so much, it's just the teacher in me. She's your baby. You decide. By the way, I love the name! Great job you two.

The teacher in me is with 'grandma'...plus a y is feminine to me for some reason.
Moe
Toe
Foe....is all the long 'o', but then there is
Chloe
that is NOT 'clo', yup, I am of absolutely no help (:
vote 1 for Zoey (darling name! will she be referred to as ZROO henceforth(: )

I have to vote Zoey. Once again no real passionate reason except for I like it and I think there will be less confusion in her life.

I'm for Zoey also because it's less easily mispronounced. You don't want her to hate the first day of school because the teachers say her name wrong from the roll. Wait, maybe I'm being Hector Projector right now. Forget I said anything, Zoey's nice.

My first thought was Zoe b/c Zoey is like Joey which is a boy. But other's comments make sense about being phonically correct.

My mom would say write it out on paper in cursive (doodling) and see which was is more fun.

I also liked the suggestion of Zoie.

ok...last comment. Go look at key chains and pencils with names on them. How is it spelled? That could save some drama in the future.

Yeah! I LOVE that name. My vote is the ZOEY - because "y"s are so feminine and fancy and you know that is what she will be called anyway. Besides, I think it sounds better with your last name. My vote is for ZOEY. Good luck. Meridee Either way, its cute.

Zoey I like better.

I vote Zoey because it won't confuse people on how to say it if they are reading it. Zoe might be pronounced wrong by people who don't know her name! But I love the name either way! Cute.

I like it with a "Y" - Zoey because my name ends in a "Y". The other 2 people in our house right now (J&N) said "Zoey" also.

I think I like Zoey better. There will be no mistaking the pronunciation. Plus with a short last name an extra letter couldn't hurt. Zoey Roos. Yes. Plus it's fun to have a y at the end of your name because you can make it all swirly and girly. I think that Zoey is also a less common spelling which will make the name more unique. Great name! Goes well with Max too.

I think it is a cute name either way you spell it. I have two friends that used that same name (one baby born last year, one baby born this year) and both spelled it Zoe. I've never seen it spelled Zoey so maybe that is more original.

It all began here said...

Not that I have any say what so ever, but as I am reading the comments I thought the following. when you are a young gal and you doodle a "Y" is much more fun to end a name with in cursive... so many options for swirls on the end. The other thing to think of if you go with ZoIE she could dot her i with a heart.

That would be fun. I guess she could also make a heart at the end of her swirl with the y.

Just cannot see any fun and fancy ways to write ZOE.

But the name is abosultly darling~

I vote Zoe. At least you guys agree on the name, the spelling only matters on paper. Zoey, Zoe either way is cute.

I like Zoey!!! It's look's more professional exspecially when she get's older. Besides she will like to write her name with the "Y" and make it look all pretty, you know how girls are...Also that's how they spell it on sesame street...
