Nesting & Fajitas

If it's true that nesting is a sign of labor, get ready! I've been in a mad panic all day to get things spic and span. I keep thinking of "just one more thing," and I think I'm driving HeRoos crazy. My second to last request before bed, is that he mop the floors. What a man- he's mopping now! I should get a picture of this rare event. :)

We enjoyed some fajitas on the back porch tonight (because I couldn't handle the smell of burned food inside).

I warned you that I blew up with this pregnancy. HeRoos measured my stomach today- ouch! In return, I measured his- ouch! Ouch! We are going to start an exercise program as soon as I heal after the birth. It's a good thing we enjoyed a shake from Jake's Over the Top tonight.

I got this at a recipe exchange and we LOVE it! There was almost WW III at our house last week when I came home to find no fajitas left for me. HeRoos is a smart man and made some for breakfast the next day. He is learning that you don't interfere with a pregnant woman and her food.

We've found that the longer it marinates, the tastier it is. Enjoy!

Chili's Fajitas
1/4 cup lime juice
4 cloves garlic- crushed
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 lb. boneless, skinned chicken breast or steak
1/2 teaspoon lime juice
1 dash black pepper
1/2 med green pepper-seeded, sliced thin
1/2 med yellow pepper-seeded, sliced thin
1 large Spanish onion- sliced thin
1/2 med red bell pepper-seeded sliced thin
3 tablespoons oil-divided
3 teaspoons soy sauce- divided
1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons water

Combine 1/4 cup lime juice, 2 tablespoons oil, garlic, 2 teaspoons soy sauce, 1 teaspoon salt, liquid smoke, cayenne pepper, in sealable container. Add chicken/steak to container, cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours (preferably over night).

Combine water, 1 teaspoon soy sauce, 1/2 teaspoon lime juice, and a dash of salt and pepper; set aside.

Grill meat over medium high flame for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through. Cut meat into thin strips; set aside and keep warm.

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook onion and peppers in remaining 1 tablespoon oil until brown. Remove from heat; pour reserved liquid mixture over onions and peppers.

Toss together meat, onions, and peppers.

Serve with warm tortillas, pico de gallo, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole.

Her fate is in your hands.

By HeRoos,

How can one letter cause so much stress? We don't have the new baby yet, but we have the name narrowed down to one name with two possible spellings. Of course SheRoos and I are at odds on which one we should go with so we are turning to you, our loyal blog readers, to help us settle the question. Leave a comment on which spelling you like better and please put a little reason with some passion behind it for such an important question! The two choices are:

Zoe

or

Zoey

P.S. Oh and the votes for the name I like count double of course :)

Big Brother in Training

We are trying to prepare MB for the arrival of his baby sister. I really don't think he comprehends it. HeRoos and I were watching the baby move and MB came over to look at my bare stomach. We taught him to pat it gently. Before we knew what was happening, he pulled up HeRoos' shirt and started patting his stomach too. He still does that with both of our tummies. Like I said, he is clueless.

Much to HeRoos' disapproval, I bought MB a doll and a toy bottle. I am trying to teach him what a baby is and that he needs to be nice and soft. The doll holds his interest for about two seconds.

But he loves the toy bottle.

And playing with his old baby toys.

And destroying his little sister's room.

I hope and pray that MB will be a good brother and that the two of them will get along well. His world is about to change forever.

Nursery #2 Ready To Go!

It has been so much fun preparing for another baby, especially a girl. We converted the guest room into the nursery and since the blue wall colors are so calming, I decided to leave them alone (except for one very bold wall).

My amazing mother brought her sewing machine over and worked wonders with the material I had been eyeing.

This is the dresser we bought at a consignment sale and I think it is adorable.

We also bought this crib at a consignment sale. We learned our lesson with MB- we splurged and bought him a really nice, expensive crib that is now covered in bite marks!

I had so much fun covering this lamp shade with a curtain I bought and never used. Who knew I could have such a good time with scissors and a glue gun!

This is my dresser from when I was little with a fresh coat of paint and a few decals.

When we decide what to name her, I'll hang the letters above her crib. We're going to take our list of names to the hospital and decide after we meet her. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to be a mother to another sweet baby. I look forward to holding her in my arms.

This Mama Comes in 3rd

Besides being HUGE and very uncomfortable, I've been keeping busy and trying to stay distracted until our little one arrives. I've been dilated to a three for the past couple weeks and the baby is head down but I think she's having too much fun kicking me with all her strength.

Every time I go to the doctor, he does an ultrasound and measures her. Unfortunately, she hasn't grown much in two weeks. Doc told me not to be concerned unless she still hasn't grown by next appointment. How is it that I'm still getting BIGGER and she's not?! I don't even recognize my body parts anymore. I saw my legs in the mirror and about cried. My body is retaining a lot of water. The sacrifices we make for our babies!

Our Mr. Boy has become quite the daddy's boy. It started out cute- now it's a little annoying. HeRoos and MB have been in a routine since day 1 of MB's life. When MB wakes up in the morning, HeRoos gets him out of his crib, cuddles him and they have breakfast together. If I interfere, MB lets me know that I'm not welcome-little does he know I prefer sleeping in anyway.

This morning HeRoos was on the exercise bike (yes, we're both gaining weight with this pregnancy) so I went to get MB out of his crib. He threw himself around the crib screaming & tossing until HeRoos arrived. The little stinker wanted nothing to do with me until HeRoos left for work. I guess I just have to accept that I'm not number 1 in his book. Come to think of it, Grandma Reta probably has the number 2 spot, so I guess I come in 3rd.

Manly Men Drive Mini Vans

It finally happened. We bought a mini van. It would seem that the wife would be the one really pushing for a van but in this case, it was HeRoos. He wouldn't even consider test driving other vehicles. Don't get me wrong- I love the rear view camera and not having to lean down to strap MB in his car seat but I had a difficult time giving into the thought of a minivan.

If you're in the market for a used Honda, we highly recommend Forrest Motors. My brother and his wife recommended them and we also had a great experience.

HeRoos is anxious to fill up all the seats and I'm ready to give my body a rest so in a couple years it may be time to start looking into adoption. :)

Lock Down Weekend

It's a good thing we celebrated the 4th a little early, on Friday. We went to my brother's house for a barbecue and fireworks in the backyard. We had a great time & ate delicious food but MB came down with a temperature and that was the end of celebrating for us.

He has been sick the entire weekend with a fever, runny nose, and eyes only for his daddy. I'm happy that he loves his dad but it makes it difficult for me to satisfy his demands when HeRoos isn't around.

I thought I would enjoy an excuse to rest this big, pregnant belly but it has been a very long weekend locked inside four walls. After MB went to bed last night, HeRoos and I played Phase 10 outside on our deck. The weather was perfect and my game was on. We don't play cards as often as we used to because HeRoos has a difficult time losing to his wife. :)

I love the 4th of July celebrations and we're disappointed we missed out on the party with HeRoos' family and Sugarhouse fireworks but we're glad MB is feeling better this morning.
