Confession

OK, my friends. I am usually a woman of my word BUT I have failed. Remember when I promised to work out five days a week? Well, I've been a slacker this week. I am recommitting myself and will start again bright and early tomorrow morning.

If you want to hear my long list of excuses, continue reading... My knee has been giving me some problems so I thought some water aerobics would be a good solution. HeRoos and I met at the rec center on his way home from work to swap the baby. I excitedly headed in with my flip flops, swimsuit under my clothes & and towel in hand. A sign on the door read that the pool is under construction for a month. So much for updating their website. Grrr So, I asked the young guy at the counter what I could do to get a work out with flip flops. His response, "Nothing." 'Thanks pal.' I arrived home a little frustrated so HeRoos and I decided to wash the car. I guess my bathing suit got a little wet after all. There are a couple days that I've been in my tennis shoes ready to sweat and my little guy decides he's hungry. I feed him, then I feel completely drained and opt not to work out. Excuses excuses excuses.

And for a downer (not related to this topic at all but my chance to get feelings sorted out as I type)...I've been a little caught up in all the sadness that seems to be going on in the world. Life is so unpredictable. One of my sorority sisters was killed in a plane crash, along with nine other people. She left behind a little girl. Then I started thinking about our neighbor who died from a motorcycle accident, leaving behind a wife and six young children. Then I read about a couple (who I don't personally know) who were severely burned in an airplane crash who have children. And a young mother battling cancer. There is just so much sadness. I feel sad for the families who have been left behind and those who are watching their loved ones suffer. I truly believe that the people who have passed on are in a far better place but my heart aches for those who are left behind to cope with the huge hole in their hearts. I often use my blog as a place to share happy events but I guess there are times that it's ok to share the not so happy things. I used to write in my journal regularly. I have a whole trunk full of diaries and journals. Writing my thoughts down on paper was the best form of therapy and brainstorming. Since I started blogging, I justified it as my journal entries but I'm afraid that is another area I need to stop slacking in. I know that with all the sadness in the world, there is just as much happiness. Sometimes it's just easy to get caught up in the storm and miss the rainbow.

Car Seat

As I was driving in a modern roundabout today, I looked in my rear view mirror at the baby mirror and BM's car seat was tipped on it's side. Yikes! His silence scared me even more so I quickly pulled over and put my hazard lights on. Fortunately, BM was just fine and probably even enjoyed the crazy ride but it left me a little frazzled. I went to the nearest fire station and two firemen were nice enough to help this first time mom. They gave me some great tips and now I have peace of mind knowing that my little guy is strapped in correctly.

Cowgirl Wanna Be

It was the annual Box Elder County Fair. I was amazed at how delicious the food was and how reasonable the prices were. There is something a little strange about admiring livestock and then eating a big, juicy hamburger, fried chicken or pork sandwich.

I just tried to tune out the smells as I chomped down on my burger.

Then we kicked our boots around on the dance floor. BM enjoyed the tunes as he was snuggled between us. HeRoos dropped the camera just as we were trying to record my mom and dad really tearing up the dance floor.

My cousin and her husband also rocked their baby to sleep while she sloshed around in Destiny's tummy.

BM and his mom REALLY want a floppy eared bunny. There was a sign that said they can be trained to use a litter box. How cool is that! HeRoos and I can't find middle ground with cats and dogs but I'm working on him for a bunny! Probably my most very favorite part of the evening was riding the bull! I've always wanted to try- I'm a wanna be cowgirl. It was a riot!

Page Turner

Wouldn't you know the day that I haven't showered by 4 o'clock, a neighbor stops by. Fortunately, she's great and won't pass judgement. I keep thinking, 'Just one more chapter and I'll work out & shower.' That was hours ago. I'm reading Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer and it's fabulous. I had a prediction about something and wanted to know right away if I was correct. (Heather, I tried getting your number from HeRoos but he wouldn't give it to me) So I called my little cousin in Idaho and she wouldn't give any information either. I had no choice but to keep reading...and reading. Those of you who have read it, we need to talk when I'm done. I only have 573 more pages to go! :)

Going Back to Cali, back to Cali...

We had a great time on our trip to California. BM had a lot of firsts.

His first:

time on an airplane.

visit to the zoo.

bottle of formula (except for when he was brand new in the hospital) .

ride in a convertible.

ride in a van.

time at the beach.

visit to Magic Mountain.

Friday:

When we flew into San Diego, the lady at the car rental asked if we wanted a convertible. Without thinking, we said yes. As we were loading two small pieces of luggage and the huge stroller, we quickly learned this wasn't the brightest idea. We made them fit and headed to our hotel.

We met up with our good friend, KT and drove to Coronado for dinner. This was BM's most difficult time of the whole trip and it happened to be the nicest restaurant we ate at. We took turns carrying him around the block while the other two ate. The people probably thought HeRoos had two wives.

Saturday:

The Roos' headed off to the San Diego Zoo. The food was delicious! We had cotton candy, nachos, and a hamburger. That zoo has some major hills so we justified our splurges!

We met up my college friend and her boyfriend for a Mexican dinner in Old Town. We did a speed walk from our hotel to the restaurant and arrived dripping with sweat. The company and food were great.

Later that evening, KT took us to Extraordinary Desserts. We took the treats to the beach and savored the decadent sweets while laughing and watching the ocean waves.

Sunday:

We went to the Midway Navy ship. Can you guess whose idea this was? HeRoos loved every minute of it. He is definitely the history guru of our family.

Then we hopped in our convertible and started toward Moorpark. As we were driving, a car drove up beside us and told us there was a problem with our bumper. We took the next exit and examined it. A screw was loose on the bumper and with the wind blowing, it was pulling it so we drove to the nearest Budget car rental. The guy working was not the friendliest to say the least but he did manage to get a van for us. The story of our lives... from convertible to mini van in 30 minutes!

We arrived in Moorpark and had a barbecue with the Benson's.

Monday:

HeRoos hit golf balls at the local driving range. Jaime and I got pedicures and went to my favorite grocery store, Trader Joe's. I love their chocolate! AND I realized that I left my wallet in the convertible that was in Huntington Beach. Fortunately, a very nice friend who lives there picked it up and is mailing it. Another good thing- I happened to give HeRoos my driver's license earlier. Without it, I wouldn't be able to fly.

Then we headed off to Six Flags at Magic Mountain. HeRoos and I went on as many roller coasters as our stomachs could handle while Jaime hung out with BM and Kate. My head and neck reminded me that I'm too old for that stuff so we stuck to the water rides. Jaime even decided to go on the Log Jammer.

When we arrived back at Jaime's, I was still wet so HeRoos and I headed to the pool and hot tub.

Tuesday:

Morning arrived way too early. Our alarm went off at 4:30 am. We turned in our rental van at the LAX airport and guess what... yep, there was a small dent in the bumper. We didn't have good luck with rental vehicles.

BM was on his best behavior for the trip. He must have known this was a trial run and he proved to us that he can handle our trip next month.

Yum Yum to the Tum Tum

Our little BM is five months old! It's hard to believe at times. This past week his palate has been introduced to all sorts of vegetables. His favorite is butternut squash -his dad is outnumbered so we can put it on the menu every night! He still takes advantage of the 24 hour milk bar but often forgets to leave a tip. I guess I can thank him for burning a few calories for me.

We weren't fast enough. He grabbed the jar and tried to lick it clean.

Bella

We're big fans of Redbox. I love that we can rent movies for $1! We usually end up paying more because it takes us a while to get around to watching a movie or we forget to turn it in the next day. HeRoos and I have very different taste in movies so we usually take turns picking them out.

We rented "Bella" and had no idea what to expect. Both of us really liked it! It was clean, a little sad at times, and a good, solid story line (something we've been yearning for). If you rent it, be sure to watch Behind the Scenes. It seems like the directors and actors share a common thread that is rare these days-integrity.

Fun Weekend

We joined my parents, brother and his family at an Ogden Raptor baseball game on Friday night. The game was looong but I was completely entertained with the kids. We were sitting within feet of the Missoula team. Their conversation was definitely not "G" rated. It's a good thing the kids haven't developed easve dropping skills yet.
I hope my sister in law writes a post (Halhouse) about the missing hair bow. It is too funny but not my story to tell.

My brother and Peanut

Grandma Reta & Grandpa Bob

The church stake that my parents attend, sure know how to party. In the morning, they had a golf tournament and in the evening, they rented out the local pool and had a barbecue. It appealed to all ages. We had a fun time and didn't want it to end.

BM's first time in a swimsuit. Isn't he a cute, white, chubby bald man!

If you look really close, you can see Peanut coming out of the slide and G.R. waiting for him. I'm in the blue bikini on the left. I changed my hair color for the day and my exercise program is really working. :)

G.R. and Walnut

Read the sign above my head. Seriously, who leaves the water for "Number 1?" Number 2 is a whole different story!

Uncle & Aunt SheRoos with Peanut and Walnut

The fun weekend ended at the Halhouse. We enjoyed their new deck and BM finally got a decent hair cut. Clippers work a lot better than scissors.

Happy Wife

This

Plus this

Equals ONE very happy wife!

How does that saying go??? A happy wife is a happy life. Well, we're all pretty happy around here. HeRoos' hard work finally paid off and our downstairs bathroom is finished! There were one too many times that I had to wobble my pregnant or broken body upstairs. Now that the project is over, our garage is no longer a work area but the home to BOTH of our cars. This is the first time EVER!

Let's Talk Favorite Restaurants

Yesterday while I was eating at Rumbi grill and Max was sleeping away, I had time to think. My thoughts usually turn to food. I have a few favorite restaurants that I like to eat at. Here they are in no particular order with my favorite dishes:

*Martine Grill- Portobello Mushroom Sandwich on a wheat bun.

* Rumbi Island Grill-Hawaiian Mahi-Mahi blackened. Instead of the rice and Caesar salad, I get a generous portion of their house salad. It is delicious but gives me dragon breath.

* California Pizza Kitchen- The garlic chicken pizza OR anything on their menu. I love it all!

* Tepanyaki Japanese Steakhouse- Sushi, sushi, and more sushi!

* Bombay House- Chicken Coconut Kurma, Naan, and for dessert...Peshawari Naan.

* Chili's Bar & Grill- I don't think you can go wrong here. I have three favorites. Boneless Buffalo Chicken Salad, Fajitas, and Monterey Chicken and of course dessert...Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie

* Red Robin- I have to include this place for their bottomless beverages (Freckled Lemonade) and Mountain High Mudd Pie! Mmmmm Mmmm Good!

* Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill- Fish tacos, chips, and guacamole.

* Cafe Rio- All of their salads are fantastic! I also like their pork burrito, enchilada style.

I am salivating just thinking about all the delicious food out there. Don't get me wrong, I like to cook but doesn't food always taste better when someone else prepares it, serves it, and cleans up?

I'm open to new places and suggestions. What are your favorite restaurants and menu items?

Fresh Mountain Air

We joined HeRoos' family in the Uintah Mountains for the weekend. We had a great time talking, making crafts, fishing, hiking, eating, roasting marshmallows, playing games, and paddling across the lake.

BM with his Grandpa Vinn and Grandma Trudy

I enjoyed watching my man do all the work while I sat back and sipped on lemonade with an umbrella.

Fortunately BM played hard so he slept well at night. HeRoos kept waking me up to tell me that BM was sleeping hard. thanks!

Looks normal, right? Scroll down for a closer look...

The fish didn't seem to bite anymore with live bait but it sure cooled HeRoos off. ;)
